Although they also attract individuals from other regional firms, many of their partners and staff have moved to the firm from London. The firm offer them the opportunity to continue to enjoy the quality of work and clients they previously experienced in the City but without the commute. Many of their clients, whether corporate, institutional or private clients, have relocated all or part of their legal work from London to benefit from their lower overheads.

The Role:

Cripps Harries Hall LLP is widely regarded as the leading law firm based in the South East. They have 41 partners and over 250 staff.
The firm’s Private Clients Group comprises specialist teams dealing with tax planning/wealth preservation; tax compliance; probate; trust administration; residential and agriculture property; family law; and a wide range of private client dispute resolution disciplines.

Their Private Capital and Tax Management teams currently contain six partners. They are now seeking to make a key strategic appointment of an additional partner as part of their long term succession planning for this practice area. This is an outstanding career opening for an ambitious lawyer with experience of working in a well known London or major regional private client practice.

Private client work has always been and remains a key component of their thriving business. They are ranked in the top band for Trusts and Personal Tax in both Chambers Guide and the Legal 500. Expansion of this area is an important feature of Cripps Harries Hall LLP’s current strategy.

The Successful Candidate:

The firm are looking for a technically able lawyer with the creative thinking and energy to join their pre-eminent team and ensure that they remain ahead of the competition.
The successful applicant will be at ease dealing with both old and new money clients and will be keen to work on and develop a diverse and interesting caseload. He or she will be a recognised specialist in trust and personal tax work, and will have experience of acting for clients from the commercial sector.

The appointee will enjoy working in a team, sharing knowledge and helping to develop talented colleagues. He or she will have experience of and an enthusiasm for managing other team members. The firm’s working environment is open and friendly, balancing quality work with a high quality of life.

A client following is not essential but the appointee will be a confident and effective operator with a track record of successful business development and first class client handling and retention skills. He or she will quickly inspire confidence, and enjoy solving complex problems and delivering pragmatic, concise and clear advice to clients.

The appointee may already have reached junior partnership status in his or her present firm or will be close to achieving partnership.
He or she will demonstrate flair and possess the personality quickly to develop the role.

The Benefits:

Salary reviewed annually in May. There will be 25 days holiday pa. In addition, other benefits will be available after a suitable qualifying period: a contributory pension scheme, free private medical care; free permanent health insurance and free life cover.
